Only Believe
When I was about 16, I went on the wrong spiritual path. I gave into peer pressure and for a bit yielded to the pressures of this present world. But you know, when you've been raised with God or if you have a praying parent you can't go too far with out being drawn back. You know that right? Or, if you have never encountered the living Jesus - He is right now standing at the door of your heart and He is knocking. I pray you open up and receive His goodness.
Well, I wanted to come back but didn't know how. I wanted God back in my life but didn't know how to reach Him. So the search began. I took my mothers old Catholic Bible off the shelf, dusted it, and began reading from the psalms of King David. This went on for about a year. Every night praying, 'What must I do to be saved? I want to be saved! How can I be saved?' My prayers continued as I read from different psalms of David. My heart was crying out to the living God and searching for Truth; desiring to be reconnected to the Father I knew as a little girl.
Then the most remarkable thing happened - I heard Gods voice. First time ever. It was as clear to me as a man would speak to a friend. He spoke to me, 'Only Believe.' His voice was a loving, strong, calm, and authoritative voice. He only said it once....'Only Believe.' I honestly only needed to hear it once. That was enough for me! In that moment, in that small childhood bedroom, I raised my hands and said, 'Yes I believe!' When I released my faith with the those simple words I felt a cloak of darkness lift off of me and golden liquid love being poured into me and all over me.
Let me ask you a question. Are you discouraged? Only Believe. God will turn your mourning into joy. Are you broken hearted because of a relationship that's over? Only Believe. God may have actually protected you from further heartbreak. Are you fighting an addiction? Only Believe. All things are possible to the one who believes.
Even as I write this. I hear this scripture for you from Psalms 27:13: 'I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.'
Do you believe God divinely guided you to read this today? If so say out loud or under your breath, 'Yes, I believe!'
